Since Tulare County is the 2nd largest agricultural community in the United States producing billions of dollars of fruits, vegetables, dairy and nuts you will find the freshest assortment of foods.Downtown hosts a farmer’s market each Thursdaynight 5 to 8 p.m. April through October. And many of our 50 restaurants use the products produced here wien creating their favorite recipes. It makes the foods better and less expensive to produce when you buy locally.Downtown is also the transportation hub with 2 transit centers supporting bus, trolley and train commuter services. And if you plan to visit Sequoia National Park you can catch the Sequoia Shuttle near your Downtown hotel room.

In a community-wide cultural arts survey conducted by the City of Visalia, participants chose Downtown Visalia as one of the top three places to bring visitors. With the most of everything to offer all within a compact area, it is no wonder the central business district is a favorite. From free concerts in the Garden Street Plaza to world class entertainment at the historic Fox Theatre.

Downtown offers 50 restaurants and quality shopping all within strolling distance. Downtown is known for its’ art and entertainment venues. We invite you to go out on the town or take an all day excursion and then stay at Comfort Suites, 210 E. Acequia Avenue or the Visalia Marriott Hotel at the Convention Center, 300 S. Court Street. Both are conveniently located in the heart of Downtown with plenty of free parking.

Visalia supports the use of alternative transportation. We are a designated Bicycle Friendly Community offering plenty of bike routes, custom storage racks and paths for your enjoyment. Downtown rated 98 out of a possible 100 score for being a Pedestrian Friendly Downtown.
