Let’s start with some good news: the Cal Water, water main replacement project has been completed. This means no late-night construction, lane closures, restricted parking and rough surfaced roadway. Phase one of the infrastructure work in the downtown area is in the books, now on to the next.
Phase two is the design phase of the light replacement project. During this phase light pole placement is laid out and the number of poles is calculated. Main street will have decorative poles from Willis to Ben Maddox and the poles will be staggered along the route. Also, during this phase additional ADA parking stalls will be positioned. Currently there are 4 existing ADA stalls, in the new design there will be an additional 5 ADA stalls added, for a total of nine.
Phase three will consist of boring, laying of conduit.
Phase four, late January early February new poles will be installed, sidewalk repair will take place at this time.
Phase five, early 2023, road work and new stripping will take place. The lighting project encompasses the entire downtown, not just Main St. area.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation in making Downtown Visalia better and better!
